Kitchen exhaust cleaning in Newcastle, fully documented

From Newcastle CBD and Hamilton through Charlestown, Kotara, Wallsend and Cardiff, we help Newcastle’s clubs, pubs, RSLs, QSR sites and aged-care kitchens stay compliant with AS 1851-2012. We’ve been servicing NSW kitchens since 2003, and Newcastle is part of our regular service area.

That means trained, NADCA/ASCS-certified technicians on your site, working to one documented standard whether you run a single kitchen or multiple sites. Every clean leaves you with a consistent, date-stamped evidence record for every site, not just the flagship: a detailed report, generally with 30 or more before-and-after photos, you can hand an insurer, auditor or landlord, proving the ductwork and fan were cleaned, not just the canopy.

Whether you run a single Newcastle kitchen or multiple sites, you get the team and logistics to keep every site on schedule and to one standard, with one consolidated set of records, so every clean is documented, not just signed-off on trust. And every clean comes with a detailed report, generally 30 or more before-and-after photos: documented evidence you can hand an insurer, auditor or landlord, proving the ductwork and fan were cleaned, not just the canopy.

How it works

Three steps to a documented Newcastle clean

1

Assess & schedule

We assess every site, set the right cleaning frequency for each kitchen's cooking load, and build one schedule across your whole portfolio.
2

Clean to standard

Our trained, accredited technicians clean the canopy, ductwork and fans, maintaining the system to AS 1851-2012 while working around your trading hours.
3

Documented evidence

You get a detailed report, generally with 30 or more photos, plus a certificate for every job. Documented evidence you can hand an insurer, auditor or landlord.

NSW compliance

Your Newcastle AFSS, backed by records

In New South Wales, AS 1851-2012 is the reference point for how commercial kitchen exhaust systems are inspected, cleaned and documented. Based on our reading, the NSW fire-safety reforms tightened this further. The practical upshot is the same as it’s always been: demonstrate a documented cleaning and inspection regime, with records kept on site, and that maintenance is what backs the Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) the building owner lodges each year. SAIS does the AS 1851-2012 maintenance and supplies the records the fire-safety practitioner relies on to endorse the AFSS. SAIS does not sign it.

Two misreadings come up a lot: that monthly cleaning is required regardless of cooking type, and that monthly inspections must be done by an external “competent person” that store staff can’t be. In our reading, neither is quite right, so we’d always suggest confirming your specific obligations.

Read more: Who is a “competent person”? · Kitchen Exhaust Compliance Guide

Every Newcastle clean includes

  • Before & after photo evidence (generally 30+ per job), ready for an AFSS, insurer or audit request
  • A certificate of works completed to AS 1851-2012
  • A detailed report, kept on site for your records
  • A recommended cleaning frequency set to each site’s cooking load

In our reading of AS 1851, the monthly visual inspection can generally be carried out by a trained store staff member working to a documented checklist, rather than requiring an external licensed inspector. We can help you set that up, while we keep the cleaning side documented to standard. We’d always suggest confirming your specific obligations with your fire-safety practitioner.

FAQ

Newcastle exhaust cleaning: common questions

Do you service Newcastle?

Yes. Newcastle is part of our regular service area, covered by trained, accredited crews working to the same standard and documentation as our city work.

Which suburbs across Newcastle and the Hunter do you reach?

We cover Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter region, including Newcastle CBD, Hamilton, Charlestown, Kotara, Wallsend, Cardiff, Mayfield, Lake Macquarie, Belmont, Maitland, Cessnock and Port Stephens. If you’re not sure we reach your site, give us a call.

What’s the right cleaning frequency for Newcastle venues?

It depends on cooking type and volume. High-output kitchens often need monthly cleaning, lighter operations quarterly. We assess each site and recommend a schedule with the documented cleaning records that support your AS 1851-2012 obligations.

Are monthly inspections included, or do we arrange those ourselves?

In our reading of AS 1851, the monthly visual inspection can generally be carried out by a trained staff member working to a documented checklist, rather than requiring an external licensed inspector. We can help you set up that process. We’d always suggest confirming your specific obligations with your fire-safety practitioner. More here.

Will your reports cover what a Newcastle venue needs on file?

Yes. Every clean comes with a detailed report, generally 30 or more before/after photos plus a certificate of works completed to AS 1851-2012. These are the maintenance records your fire-safety practitioner relies on to endorse the Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS). SAIS does the cleaning and documents it; SAIS does not sign the statement.

Do you work after hours at Newcastle and Hunter venues?

Yes. Most Newcastle cleans run in overnight or early-morning windows, so the kitchen is ready for the day’s first shift. After-hours, weekend and public-holiday scheduling is available, and we plan each visit around your operational hours. If a job needs after-hours timing, we build that into the price at quote stage rather than adding it later.

How does pricing work for multi-site groups across Newcastle and the Hunter?

Every job is quoted individually once we scope the site, and volume-based pricing is available for multi-site groups. Travel and any out-of-hours work are priced in from the start, with nothing added to the invoice later. If you run several venues across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter, we can quote and schedule them as one portfolio, with a single consolidated set of records.

How much of the exhaust system does a Newcastle clean cover?

The whole system. A SAIS kitchen exhaust clean covers the canopy, filters, the full length of accessible ductwork and the exhaust fan, cleaned to bare metal where accessible. Grease inside the duct and fan is what fuels exhaust fires, and it is exactly what the before-and-after photos in your detailed report show.
