Why it matters

Anyone can say “trained and certified”

Kitchen exhaust and HVAC hygiene is largely unregulated as a trade: there is no licence a cleaner must hold before working on your exhaust system. That makes independent accreditations one of the few ways to verify a contractor before they are on your roof. Here is what we hold, what each one actually is, and what it does and doesn’t tell you.

NADCA, with ASCS-certified technicians

Member since 2020

NADCA (the National Air Duct Cleaners Association) is the international association for HVAC system inspection, cleaning and restoration. SAIS has been a member since 2020, and our supervising technicians hold NADCA’s ASCS certification (Air Systems Cleaning Specialist), a professional certification that requires formal training, examination and ongoing renewal.

What it tells you: the people scoping and supervising your work are trained to an international standard for cleaning air systems, not just holding a pressure washer.

IKECA

Member

IKECA (the International Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Association) is the industry body specifically for kitchen exhaust system cleaning. Membership keeps our methods aligned with international practice for cleaning exhaust systems properly, through the full duct run to the fan, not just the visible canopy.

What it tells you: our approach to kitchen exhaust follows the recognised practice of the body dedicated to exactly this work.

CM3

Independently audited

CM3 is an independent contractor safety prequalification scheme: our work health and safety systems, procedures and insurances are audited by a third party, not self-declared. Many large property groups and facilities teams use CM3 to verify a contractor’s safety systems before allowing them on site.

What it tells you: when our crews work overnight in your kitchen or on your roof, the safety systems behind them have been independently checked.

What accreditations do and don’t mean

Are memberships and certifications a guarantee of compliance?
No, and be wary of anyone who implies they are. Accreditations are verifiable signals: trained technicians, audited safety systems, methods aligned with industry practice. Compliance for your building depends on your whole fire-safety and maintenance schedule. What accreditations give you is confidence in who is doing the work and evidence you can show for your choice of contractor.
What is ASCS certification?
ASCS (Air Systems Cleaning Specialist) is NADCA’s professional certification for HVAC system cleaning. It requires formal training, passing an examination, and ongoing renewal. At SAIS, our supervising technicians hold ASCS certification.
What does “CM3 audited” actually involve?
CM3 prequalification means a third party has audited our work health and safety systems, procedures and insurances, rather than us self-declaring them. It is commonly required by large property groups before a contractor can work on their sites.
Can you provide certificates for our vendor onboarding?
Yes. We’re used to procurement and vendor-onboarding processes and can supply current accreditation and insurance documentation as part of yours.
